meerly: 2nd finding:
meerly: we have so many talent but yet life is too short for us to discover them all

meerly: so what we can do is to polish up the thing we are good at now, which we have already discovered

meerly: god has given everyone different talent, His hidden message is that human need to be co-operative

meerly: to bring success

meerly: we only have one life, one short life

meerly: instead of spending time to improve our short-comings, which we human has so many... which will never be finished

bhoidyreyes: "co-operative"
meerly: why not just spend more time on embracing our strength
bhoidyreyes: yup this is the catch word
meerly: i no longer feel that i have no time
meerly: i feel i should have use my time better
meerly: i dont feel alone anymore, i feel i am the same like everyone else
meerly: people will definately look very good and confident when they are talking about things they are good at

bhoidyreyes: i am happy dear
meerly: of course, why not
meerly: the reason im not confident now is that i dont talk about things im good at

meerly: i always focus on things that i am not good at

meerly: and thinking ways to improve it

meerly: again, i should spend time to strenghten my strong points
bhoidyreyes: yup, i also noticed that. but not to say good at but not really your field of experieve

Coping with my mental health

1. borderline personality disorder

having emotions that are up and down (for example, feeling confident one day and feeling despair another), with feelings of emptiness and often anger

http://www.mind.org.uk/help/diagnoses_and_conditions/borderline_personality_disorder#causes

2. panic attack

  • absolutely terrified
  • that the world is going to end
  • that you are going to die
  • 'unreal' or cut off from the world
  • that you are going mad
  • a sense of impending doom

Ten tips to prevent panic

  • Reduce your exposure to unnecessary stress. Find ways to express your needs and assert yourself more successfully.
  • Change your lifestyle. Take regular exercise. Avoid stimulants, such as cigarettes and alcohol. Eat regular meals and avoid processed foods and drinks, to keep blood sugar levels stable.
  • Don't bottle up your emotions. Find someone to confide in, such as a family member, friend or counsellor.
  • Develop coping strategies. Look into cognitive behaviour therapy, or other talking treatments; consult self-help books; ask about anxiety management courses.
  • Join a support group. This allows you to share feelings and discuss strategies.
  • Learn to breathe from your diaphragm. With hands on stomach, slowly breathe in through your nose while counting to four. Your stomach should rise (not your chest). Breathe out, to a count of four, and your stomach should collapse. Repeat four times.
  • Learn a relaxation technique. First close your eyes and breathe slowly and deeply. Locate any areas of tension and imagine the tension disappearing. Then, relax each part of the body, bit by bit, from the feet upwards. Think of warmth and heaviness. After 20 minutes, take some deep breaths and stretch.
  • Focus on the positive aspects of your life. If you feel an attack coming on, try to distract yourself with a pleasurable task.
  • Don't depend on others for reassurance. Tell yourself you're not dying or going mad. It's better to rely on yourself and your own coping strategies.
  • Accept and face your feelings during an attack. They will become less intense.

What can I do to heal the past?

  • Through the expressive arts, such as dance, music, sculpting, painting, creative writing and poetry. All of these can help you to tell your story, and can give tremendous pleasure and empowerment in themselves. Find a class through your local adult education service, local library or community centre.
  • Learn to be assertive. Read up on it, and join a class. (See Mind's booklet How to assert yourself.) It's also worth looking online for details of classes.
  • Form a support group. Perhaps you can find others seeking help with their past, through a local community centre, bookshop, religious organisation or adult education class (on assertiveness or self-esteem, for example).
  • Tell your friends that you are attempting to face some old childhood wounds, and enlist their help. They may have had similar experiences, and have useful advice and suggestions.
  • Keep a journal. Use it to explore your memories and relate them to difficulties you are having now.

Introduction

What is mental health and how does a person who is mentally ill act?

Does having a mental illness mean that you are violent?

This factsheet has been written to answer questions you may be asking and to help put aside some of the misconceptions people often have about mental illness. It discusses some of the feelings and experiences you may be having and also looks at some of the different ways mental illness may affect your life.

The information contained here will also help you to think about different types of mental illness and the kind of help that is available.

What does mental health mean?

The word 'mental' means 'of the mind'. It describes your thoughts, feelings and understanding of yourself and the world around you.

The word 'health' generally describes the working order of your body and mind. So when we talk about 'mental health' we are referring to the working order of your mind.

Mental illness

Sometimes things go wrong with our bodies. We may catch a bug and become ill or we might get hurt in an accident. In the same way, we can have problems with our mental health. There are different types of mental illnesses, such as depression, anxiety and schizophrenia. We will look at these in more detail in a little while.

Mental distress

If we have problems with our mental health we might feel:

  • sad
  • worried
  • confused
  • angry
  • in despair
  • hopeless
  • tearful
  • scared
  • irritable
  • panicky
  • numb
  • guilty.

In addition we might think that we are:

  • unlovable
  • guilty
  • bad
  • evil.

These feelings can become so strong that they start to overwhelm us. We feel they are too much to cope with and we become distressed by them.

When people become mentally ill

Describing mental illness

People use different words to explain that they have had problems with their mental health. Some say they had a mental illness. Others say they were mentally distressed, or they may say they had mental health problems.

Signs of mental illness

You come out in spots when you have chicken pox, or if you have a cold your nose runs. But with mental health problems it can be different. Sometimes you cannot tell if someone has a mental health problem.

You may notice that someone close to you has changed. Perhaps they want to be alone all the time and do not want to go out, whereas before they were always chatting and enjoyed going to see different people and places.

These are some other things you may notice about someone who has a mental health problem:

  • Some people may do or say strange things.
  • They may hear or see things that nobody else can.
  • They may seem sad or cross all the time.
  • They may seem tired or have amazing amounts of energy.
  • They may hold strange beliefs.
  • They may believe someone or something is trying to harm them and so seem scared all the time.

What causes mental illness?

We do not fully understand the causes of mental health problems, but some possible reasons include:

  • Stress - too much can make it hard to cope with problems. Changes can be stressful, such as when a loved one dies, getting divorce or moving house. Pressure from school, work, or other people can be stressful too.
  • Genes - these are codes that contain information about what hair colour we are going to have and how big our feet will be. Some scientists think some people have genes that tell their brains to develop a mental health problem. These mental illness (or mental distress) genes may need stress or upset to make them work.
  • Biochemistry - the mixture of natural chemicals in our bodies - can affect how we think or feel. What we eat and drink, illness, hormones, our environment and stress can affect bichemistry.
  • Upbringing can cause mental health problems. For example, growing up in a family where you never felt loved or cared for can be difficult. Or perhaps there has been abuse. Not being encouraged to say how you feel can also affect mental health. Sometimes parents themselves felt unloved or had problems growing up and therefore may not know how to show love or care to their own children.

Mental distress may be caused by a combination of different factors such as these.

Fact zone
One in four people will develop a mental health problem during their lifetime.

Understanding different mental health problems

Depression

Most people know what it feels like to be sad or unhappy. If you feel depressed you feel very down. Everything is too much effort. You may think you are useless and no good. Activities you used to enjoy are not interesting any more, and things that used to make you laugh are no longer funny. You may feel tired all the time, have trouble sleeping and don't feel like eating. However, sometimes people eat and sleep more than usual when they feel depressed.

Things that can help include:

  • talking about how you feel to someone you can trust, including parents, teachers, youth leaders, counsellors, or your GP
  • prescribed medication such as antidepressants
  • herbal remedies, such as St John's wort (talk to your family doctor first if you would like to take this herbal remedy as it can cause complications if taken with other prescriptions, such as birth control pills).

Fact zone
Famous people who have been depressed include Winston Churchill, Janet Jackson, Patsy Kensit and Caroline Aherne (Mrs Merton).

Manic depression

If you have manic depression then you can have times when you are very high or 'manic', and times when you are depressed.

When you are manic you can feel very good. You can have boundless energy; you move and talk quickly, you have lots of ideas, all things are possible, you may need very little sleep and you can feel very creative. You may also spend too much money, not be able to concentrate and feel irritable. I

Well this troubles me

"I don't know many executives who can deliver a ' to the point' answer about where the future is going," she says. "Even less who are capable of explaining the main ten, five, or even three key drivers shaping not only their industry but the entire business arena. And how many CEOs can comfortably create a 'kick-ass strategy' based on their understanding of today's society? Therefore investing in trend intelligence and ultimately taking time out to actively think about the future makes sound business sense."

I am his angel

He wake up seeing me next to him every morning.

He piggy back me crossing the road.

He always walk at the side nearer to the road to make sure I am safe.

He holds my hand when we are brisk walking.

He tells ghost story when he saw candles and joss stick at the split end.

He sits very very near to me (literally sticking) when we are eating at the hawker, that I can hardly scoop my food.

He take care of me like his family member.

He says: You are my angel, and kiss me goodnight.

Temporary Life in Singapore

Hi mommy, how are you? I heard you pick up a course on Chinese online? Very cool! How is the progress?Yeah we have been busy for these few weeks... Bhoidy is working now and we had breakfast together near his office, then only I come back home. See how free I am? Haha... I actually found a job before I come to Singapore, as an Online Marketing Consultant. But the government rejected my work pass application. I went to my office yesterday to settle the paper work. So I need to now wait for the result. As soon as they approve, I will be start working. For now, I will just continue my freelance work at home, tidying up our room, do laundry, and wait for Bhoidy. Haha, so not used to be a housewife. You know I just can't sit at home.I feel very happy now as me and Bhoidy has finally stay together. We see this as a new challege for both of us to understand each other more, and learn how to take care of each other. Staying together is a new lesson to learn. But so far we are doing very well. We have more patience and tolerance for each other. I am blessed that Bhoidy has a strong sense of responsibility of being a man. He make sure I have all the resources I need for daily life. We also exercise together. Our new aim to get fit again together. (We both are having a big tummy now, haha)This place that we are staying now is called "Commonwealth". Basically is a old people community. Alot of old people staying in here I don't know why. Therefore the place here is abit dirty and old compare to other places in Singapore. But the good point is that you won't feel the stress you are feeling during work. Is a relaxing place seeing the old people eating, walking, chatting. We are staying with an old parents with a son. Sometimes the girl friend of the son will be staying overnight here. They all staying in a room while me and Bhoidy staying in another. We are planning to move after 3 months. This is not a very ideal place for me. Not very convenient to cook, laundry, and this place is small. I think we can have better quality of life in here.Hope this mail won't be too long for you to read. (I am free!) I miss you mommy. How is Izzy and daddy doing? Izzy has a boyfriend now, do you feel more relieve that somebody is taking care of her? She need to learn how to take care of others also from now on, haha...Take care!

Rojak Philosophy

While waiting for the MOM to approve my pass (which feels like it take years), I might as well start doing some preparation for my new job. Well to be frank, I do not have any formal education on online marketing. But I guess most of the experienced marketing people out there doesn't really have. They still excel in the industry. Media is just a tool. What important is their experience in marketing, and continuous learning on the digital trend. And I believe if I put effort in studying that, me too can be good in this.

Method:
1. Study online marketing at least an hour a day.
2. Buy a book-marketing

Rojak Philosophy
I am a believer of marketing mix. Marketing or branding objective cannot be achieve by only one channel. Marketing message has to reach different target audience by using different type of media.

1. Blending a mix of new content with the filtering and management of other useful information streams is a productive and manageable solution for providing prospective customers a steady stream of high quality and relevant content.

2. Success online contest: huge mix of prizes, give multiple ways to win.

roti bakar, tak mau kaya, butter saja.

Roti bakar (toasted bread) is a common breakfast here in Malaysia. If you order roti bakar 1 set, they will spread planta (butter) and kaya (coconut jam) on your toast. It's a perfect match of sweet and salty. But I am not a fan of kaya, I don't like sweet stuff. So I always order: roti bakar, tak mau kaya, planta saja.

It comes to a surprise to me that, 3 out of 5 times i ordered this, they will serve me with roti bakar with kaya, no planta. This inspire me to discover more of how human brain actually react to this order.

Preparing to the WWW

What is AJAX?
AJAX = Asynchronous JavaScript and XML.

AJAX is not a new programming language, but to represent a broad group of web technologies that create fast and dynamic web pages:

  • HTML / XHTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript / DOM

AJAX is the art of exchanging data with a server, and update parts of a web page - without reloading the whole page.

Examples of applications using AJAX: Google Maps, Gmail, Youtube, and Facebook tabs.

Make popular by Google Suggest on 2005.

What is OScommerce?

osCommerce Online Merchant is an Open Source online shop e-commerce solution that is available for free. It features a rich set of out-of-the-box online shopping cart functionality that allows store owners to setup, run, and maintain online stores with minimum effort and with no costs, fees, or limitations involved.

It contains both a catalog front end and an administration tool back end which can be easily installed and configured over a web-based installation procedure.

8 years of operation.

Studies have shown that you can expect an increase in business of up to 250% by accepting credit card payments on your web site.

What is SEO?

Search engine optimization or SEO is the process of making your website search engine friendly and getting higher ranking so as to increase the volume and quality of visitors to your website.

"A sentence should contain no unnecessary words, a paragraph no unnecessary sentences, for the same reason that a drawing should have no unnecessary lines and a machine no unnecessary parts."

Research has shown that around 89 percent of internet users use search engines and directories to look for products, services and information. There is no advantage in having a web site if no one is able to find it.

Optimizing:

1. Create unique, accurate page titles

2. Make use of the "description" meta tag

3. Make your site easier to navigate

4. Improve the structure of your URLs

5. Offer quality content and services

6. Write better anchor text

7. Use heading tags appropriately

8. Optimize your use of images

Question: Google started to put in new UI feature which is detecting nearest location. How can a company know where they rank at that particular area?

'Search engine marketing' is a much broader term that refers to everything that can be done to utilize the technology of search engines, blog directories and other social networking systems with the goal of promoting a web site and increasing its traffic, its "stickiness," and, in the case of sites that promote a business - increase profits.
SEO (search engine optimisation) is in fact just the first phase of SEM (search engine marketing).

What is CMS?

CMS or a 'Content Management System' quite literally allows you to control and manage the content within your web site - without technical training. Using this uncomplicated system you can very easily add, delete images and edit text in your web site on the fly. You can also have an unlimited number of pages and a full site-search engine.

CMS reduces the time required to publish, allowing you to get your content on-line faster. This is a very important issue for any professional web site.

Type of CMS:
http://www.a3webtech.com/index.php/how-cms-works.html

What is Internet Marketing?

Internet marketing, also referred to as i-marketing, web-marketing, online-marketing, Search Engine Marketing (SEM) or e-Marketing, is the marketing of products or services over the Internet.

The Internet has brought media to a global audience. The interactive nature of Internet marketing in terms of providing instant response and eliciting responses, is a unique quality of the medium. Internet marketing is sometimes considered to have a broader scope because it not only refers to the Internet, e-mail, and wireless media, but it includes management of digital customer data and electronic customer relationship management (ECRM) systems.

Internet marketing ties together creative and technical aspects of the Internet, including: design, development, advertising, and sales.

Preparing to play with my new toy Minolta

Check if the camera is working well:
Check the battery compartment, and clean it replacing the battery. Then check the light meter readings (manual mode easier as you can adjust both shutter speed and aperture and see the changes in the viewfinder), and compare the readings with another camera or light meter (should be within 1/2 f-stop). Then check the aperture-priority and automatic modes, that they also adjust to changes in the light/scene.

What is Center-weighted average metering?
In this system, the meter concentrates between 60 to 80 percent of the sensitivity towards the central part of the viewfinder. The balance is then "feathered" out towards the edges. Some cameras will allow the user to adjust the weight/balance of the central portion to the peripheral one. One advantage of this method is that it is less influenced by small areas that vary greatly in brightness at the edges of the viewfinder; as many subjects are in the central part of the frame, consistent results can be obtained.

What is Aperture Priority (A)?
aperture priority mode automatically sets the corresponding shutter speed when you program the aperture. Aperture priority is useful when taking portraits, close-ups, and landscape shots. For creative effects, you can set exposure plus or minus 2EV in half-stop increments.

How to do Multi Exposure?
1) Without pressing the rewind release, turn the rewind crank until you
feel some resistance. This takes up slack in the casette.

2) Press the rewind release.

3) With your finger on the rewind crank to keep it from moving, stroke the
film advance lever as normal.

This will keep the double exposure pretty much in register - if you don't
take up slack and hold the crank it still works but the frames may no
longer overlap as well. Don't forget to decrease exposure for each shot,
since the two exposures will add. For a simple double exposure, try -1
stop exposure compensation.

Back-light:
When I have back lighting I frequently tilt the camera down, press the exposure lock and then tilt up and shoot.

Very bright object:
If I am shooting a very bright subject I will use the exposure compensation dial to increase exposure.

Know what REALLY matters to you

Today is the 7th days since my surgery. My daily life isn't really boring as I exaggerate it. I check company's email, working on some freelance project, chatting with my boyfriend, posting some comments in facebook, read some books, taking a hot shower, listening to Jazz music...

My friend was right, when one used to be busy stay at home for a few days, one will become miserable, weird thinking, started to ponder why isn't the partner here. I would like to apologize to my dear, I know he is as hurt as my feet does. I see his tolerance on me. I know he gave his greatest heart to me. I know...

I am still reading "It's not about the coffee", every word is inspiring.
I owe it to myself to find the one hat that I can wear everyday in every are of my life.

Howard Behar was in furniture business. Someone asked him," What do you love? Furniture or People?" He was thinking, furniture is furniture. But is was also the way he expressed his creativity. When he thought more about it, the emotions and passion he felt about his work didn't have to do with the furniture, they had to do with the people.

This reminds me of:
People who know me long enough know that I always like to work as a waitress. I like to serve people. I like to give people surprise. I like to see people smiling, I like to see happy faces. It was the people that I loved- the interaction among people, serving other people, learning from other people.

Happy people is a matter to me.

Can you just stop eating, bitch?

little changes

Just want to encourage myself. I made some little changes and effort in my diet.

I didn't drink milk even though I was hungry before i sleep.
I drink hot coffee instead of cold.
I didn't eat the banana I brought with me.
I eat only 1 half boiled egg instead of 2.
I drink green tea instead of milk coffee after lunch.
I bought fruits rather than veggie pao for snack later.

Resolved

Body is feeling tired from the 4 hours-drive, but my spirit has been rejuvenate.

10pm: Gavin bought us putu mayam from Pulau Tikus. Funny thing is that I don't have keys to go out of my house to take from him. That's the furthest distance on earth. LOL.

Spent quality time with Eewen doing manicure & pedicure. My toe nails are in yellow, and thanks to Esther for adding 2 cherries on the thumb. I hope this cheer the doctor up during my bunion surgery.

People can actually see I use my heart to do things. But suddenly realize that it's been sometime I forgot to put put my heart into things that I like to do. I feel sorry for my analogue cameras, I was greedy to get all of them but never really put my heart into them to bring the best out of it. I don't even organize the pictures that I have. Don't even know what film did I use for that roll.

Looking at Joy's pictures make me notice that she see things with heart. But mine is not too bad, I found fun and laughter in my pictures, =P and I guess this is me! Fun, bold, sunshine, witty, nonsense...

I wanna keep a journal of my journey, with pictures, collage, and heart. Other than my mom, Bhoidy is the greatest gift that god has given to me. Should I now believe in god? He has given me a lot of signs. Please watch the book of Eli.

Goodbye bunion!
